A few days ago, I received via email important
news from the Consumer Electronic Association (CEA) headquartered in Virginia.
Nick Cannon has
been designated as the Entertainment Matters Ambassador for the 2015
International CES. The very famous host of America’s Got Talent, Cannon is
indeed a great choice for this important position in the Variety-sponsored
Entertainment Matters. The latter is a content-focused CES program developed for
Hollywood’s film, television and digital communities.
As Ambassador, Nick Cannon will help
illuminate CES’s focus on collaboration between the entertainment and
technology industries. As defined by CEA, “Cannon will advocate for uniting
entertainment thought leaders, who are at the forefront of digital content
creation, with innovative executives and entrepreneurs who are developing the
next generation of breakthrough technology products and services.”
Karen
Chupka, senior vice president, events and conferences, CEA says, “As a
successful entrepreneur, producer, actor and television host, Nick Cannon is
the perfect ambassador for the 2015 CES Entertainment Matters program. Nick’s multifaceted career is a vivid
testimony to the importance of – and the opportunities presented by – merging
content and technology to create the next-generation of entertainment.
And that is what the CES Entertainment Matters program is all
about.”
Nick Cannon in his response says, “I am
honored to serve as the 2015 CES Entertainment Matters Ambassador. I look
forward to attending CES to see the future of technology and entertainment and
to do my part to make that future more entertaining and fun. I can’t wait
to be in Vegas for CES this January!”
In a Press
Statement issued by CEA, it also says, “Cannon is currently the host of America’s
Got Talent at Radio City Music Hall, New York City, where he has helped
draw in record-breaking viewership to the show. Behind the scenes, Cannon
produces TV and film projects through his multi-media company NCredible
Entertainment. Some of Cannon’s current projects include TeenNick’s Annual
“Halo Awards,” which honors teenagers for outstanding community service, a
music countdown show hosted by Cannon called “TeenNick Top 10,” and Cannon’s
first studio film directorial debut “School Dance” for Lions Gate.
Cannon transitioned from acting to
producing following critically acclaimed roles in “Drumline,” “Nick Cannon
Presents Wild N Out,” the Emilio Estevez film “Bobby” which earned Cannon Variety’s
2007 “Breakthrough Actor of the Year” award, and “Up All Night,” which earned
Cannon 2012 NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Supporting Actor.”
Cannon has
expanded on his entertainment know-how by delving into the technology sector,
creating products with heavy multimedia usage in mind. His collection of
Monster “NCredible” high-end headphones are marketed to sound-quality
aficionados, teens, and music artists looking for a product that synergizes
style and top audio quality components. Cannon also created a line of tablets
sold through QVC with affordability and features that enable connectivity
on-the-go.
The Entertainment Matters program,
which attracted more than 29,000 content and entertainment professionals to the
2014 CES, will feature exhibits, keynotes, panels and events critical to the
entertainment community, including new content and entertainment-focused
conference sessions.”
With this
development, I am excitedly looking forward to the International CES 2015 to be
held on January 6-9, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada – the Entertainment Capital of
the World!
Of course, the 2015 CES will also feature
more than 20 market-specific marketplaces highlighting innovation across 20
different product categories including gaming, robotics, smart home and 3D
printing.
